Class I Caramel Color Nutritional Update

Posted - Company News.

Sethness Products is pleased to announce a reduction to the stated sulfite levels of our Class I Caramel Colors and Caramelized Sugar Syrups to <10 ppm on our Nutritional statements. No ammonium or sulfite compounds are allowed in the production of Class I Caramel Colors. These minimally processed Class I Caramel Colors are often referred to as “Plain”, and they are the fastest growing segment in our industry.

This project has been in the works for quite some time. Through extensive testing and optimized methodology, Sethness is able to confirm the results for Class I Caramel Colors and Caramelized Sugar Syrups to have <10 ppm of sulfite (or SO2) on a routine basis. There is no such thing as a “no sulfite” Caramel Color because of the presence of sulfites in our plant, but the confirmation of sulfite reduction will assist our customers with the requirements for the declaration of sulfites on their product labels.

The new sulfite levels can be found on the Nutritional statements on our Class I web page.
