The World's largest Caramel Color production facility is ready to serve you...anywhere in the world

With Sethness Caramel Color, consistent quality is standard operating procedure...batch after batch, year after year. That is why all of our North American production is centralized in Clinton, Iowa, under one roof in the world's largest Caramel Color production facility. Recently expanded to serve ever-growing customer needs, this plant also houses our R&D laboratories.

While Caramel Color can be produced from a variety of carbohydrate sources, Sethness utilizes high dextrose-containing liquid corn sugar. This produces the highest quality Caramel Color, with low viscosity, high coloring power, and exceptional stability. The Clinton location, right in the middle of the "corn belt", assures a reliable supply of this vital and economical raw material.

Liquid corn sugar is pumped to one of several 50,000 lb. capacity reactor vessels, where it is then processed (sometimes under pressure) with a reactant specific to each Caramel Color specification. Following flash cooling and filtering, the product is ready to be packaged, or sent to the spray dryer for dehydration into powdered Caramel Color.

Sethness Powdered Caramel Color provides unique functionality in dry-mix systems. Unlike drum-dried Caramel Color, which can have irregular particle sizes, Sethness powders feature uniform particles for excellent flow characteristics and dispersibility.

Throughout the production process, Quality Assurance performs over 30 individual tests to make sure that every batch of Sethness Caramel Color adheres to rigid specifications. It's your assurance that every order you receive will be consistent.

Packaging options for liquid Caramel Color include containers as small as one gallon jugs, to as large as a 17,600 gallon rail car. Modern tank truck loading facilities, and our own rail siding, assure that your Caramel Color order is handled as efficiently and safely as possible.

A new commitment to markets in Europe and beyond

In November 2004, Sethness opened a Caramel Color production plant in Merville, France. This plant is a joint venture between Sethness and Roquette Frères S.A. and will provide service to customers in the European, Middle Eastern, Russian, Former Soviet Republics and African markets.

The state-of-the-art facility is the most modern Caramel Color plant in the world. The processing equipment is based on well-proven, efficient Sethness technology and is complemented with a unique bulk storage facility to guarantee consistent quality and service to customers. Production facilities in India augment a strong international presence

The dramatic economic development of markets in the Indian subcontinent and adjacent countries caused Sethness to take additional steps to assure a reliable supply of high quality Caramel Color. Our production facility in Ahmedabad, India is a joint venture between Sethness and Sayaji Industries LTD. Originally constructed in 1995, this plant has recently undergone expansions that have doubled both production and inventory capacity for liquid Caramel Color. This facility represents a significant enhancement of our international presence and allows Sethness to effectively service the world's most rapidly expanding markets.
