Although Caramel Colors provide no nutritional value, they offer clean-label opportunities for manufacturers who are targeting health-conscious consumers.

Caramel Color in Nutritional Beverages

SETHNESS ROQUETTE liquid and powder Caramel Colors are ideal for protein beverages, energy drinks, flavored waters, meal replacement beverages, fortified smoothies and sport nutrition beverages. They are an ideal coloring agent for popular chocolate beverages in both ready-to-drink and powdered beverage mixes. SETHNESS ROQUETTE Caramel Colors are a strong UV absorber which helps protect the nutraceutical components in nutritional beverages.

The type of protein, acid, and dyes present in the beverage are important for consideration in choosing the correct Caramel Color to use. There can be a varied response of the Caramel Color to the type of protein present which may require either a Class III or IV Caramel Color. FD&C dyes, especially Red 40, have occasional poor interaction with some Caramel Colors. While all classes of SETHNESS ROQUETTE Caramel Colors are stable at low pH levels, Caramel Color interaction with various acids can be varied and lead to haze problems.
